The Gossamer Wing
A small theatre located near to the Cantabrian Embassy in the Raalskheer, this venue is entirely given over to Cantabrian cultural events and pastimes, and is in fact directly linked to the Cantabrian Embassy. It is run and overseen by Cassid Barcca, a noted Desharan performer and Cantabrian Eiccon (playwright and polymath). The layout within past the conventional mezzanine area is entirely Cantabrian in layout, with a dipping amphitheatre focused in a circle around a performance area. It seats 400 on the marble pews, though the presence of throws and cushions adds a riot of colour to the spectator area.
Events that take place here are Deshara plays, choral singing, poetry recital (all in Old Kessavine) and lectures on a great many subjects. Every 10 days Cantabrians and those interested in their affairs congregate there for the Tahridda, a kind of news and current events statement; in this way, Cantabrians living in Heidelgard and those who have an interest in public affairs are kept updated on the latest news and information from Cantabrius and its colony/protectorates. It starts with a general statement, and then the Tahriddaine (the speaker) fields questions from the audience, making it a fairly interactive event. The Tahriddaine is an expert on Cantabrian Culture and often acts as pundit, giving an opinion (“Though Korvaio only knows the truth”, is the customary disclaimer).
Most people who attend the Gossamer Wing are Cantabrians, though there is a growing number of Heidelens and Heidelen residents who share an appreciation in the ancient culture of Kessavine and are more than welcome to attend.
