The Glittering Wheel
Located in the south western part of the SchaapsKwarteer sits one of the greatest gambling houses in the city, the Glittering Wheel. A 4 storey building with gambling forms in all sorts within, inside its imposing arched doors there are many ways for a person to find amusement, loss and gain in equal measure. Customers are only required to surrender long arms, bows, crossbows and 2 handed weapons at the well guarded foyer, as the added spice of armed gamblers adds to the allure of this place. Owned by the wealthy Kosteegin family , it is frequented by folks of all stripes, though the lower orders or the poorer are restricted to the lower 2 floors, except by special invitation. There, card games of all kinds, dice, bets on fistfights and (non fatal) duels, along with roulette and other games of chance and semi-skill are to be enjoyed.
The decor is flashy and beguiling, and the alcohol is cheap on these floors, and discrete security men and women keep a low profile, intervening only if murder is about to occur or if definite cheating is suspected. Eating establishments are also found here, better than street food but not quite restaurant quality.
The top 2 floors are where the privileged and wealthy rub shoulders, with games of all kinds, cabaret and other forms of entertainment as well. To gain entrance one must have an invitation, which is something of notable rarity to any outside the wealthy or influential.
