Rulers of a Principality in The Marcher Principalities called Blackspire along the borders with Toralden, House Tachthorne is one of the most powerful lands within the Marchers, even before its political, cultural and marriage ties with a number of Margraves ,Counts and Husczaruks of that ferocious and proud northern realm. Ruled currently by the elderly Prince Kaszikin Tachthorne (old but still remarkably hale and astute), the House has strong influence in the Marchers, is regarded warily by Varunnan nobles and has its own embassies in all lands, though admittedly of varying sizes. They have no presence in Cantabrius who have had them expelled for undisclosed mischief, no presence within Schwereinn (similar reasons) and a small consulate in Heidelgard more tied to business and commerce than politics.
They have a great deal of influence with the Hand of The Society of Harmony, given a number of lesser Tachthorne scions who have joined that militaristic wing, though they are feared and disliked by most Marchers, being seen as the Toralden proxy within the Principalities.
They have a well earned reputation for craftiness, religious intolerance, cruelty and mischief, though they lost some prestige when the current Princes second son Romus refused to join his family activities and disinherited himself, leaving the Marcher Principalities to become a Physician and turn his back on a life of ease, privilege and cruelty. There are many members of the house, cousins Uncles,Aunts and others, all trying to carve a name for themselves under the watchful and absolute rule of Prince Kaszikin. They get up to much, but all heed and obey when he speaks.
